“Rolling Back Militarism: A Task for the Global Movement”
International Peace Bureau’s Annual Conference, co-organized with Peace Action
Georgetown University

We’ll be performing an evening concert at “Rolling Back Militarism: A Task for the Global Movement”.

The conference is an “invitation to engage in a strategic process, to examine our campaigning priorities and options, to explore new ways to challenge the militarism we see around us, and to build international connections and partnerships.” Speakers include Tom Hayden (former California Senator), Phyllis Bennis (Institute for Policy Studies), Carlos Vargas (Intl. Assoc of Lawyers against Nuclear Arms, Costa Rica), Azza El-Kholy (Institute for Peace Studies, Egypt), Jackie Cabasso (Western States Legal Foundation/Mayors for Peace), Judith LeBlanc (United for Peace and Justice) and many more.

OCTOBER 2009: SOAWatch is involved on the ground in Honduras, following the June 28 military coup by graduates of the School of the Americas (SOA/WHINSEC). Lend your support to demand the unconditional reinstatement of President Zeleya!

Vigil and Nonviolent Direct Action to close the SOA/WHINSEC at Ft. Benning. Join us and more than 25,000 people at the annual vigil to close the SOA!

This will be our eighth year at this extraordinary demonstration that includes a massive rally with music, speakers and puppets, as well as, concerts, teach-ins, workshops and film screenings.

Have you ever wondered what your own songs would sound like? Or are you ready to take your songwriting to a deeper level? Explore the craft of songwriting with warm-up and creativity exercises that will cultivate a playful relationship with words and melody and help you to be open to your songs. Bring paper and pen. A recording device, if you have one, is helpful but not required.
