About Takoma Radio:

“Why do we want old-fashioned extremely local FM radio? We want it because we have a unique and vibrant community that craves a real time voice. If we receive a Construction Permit from the FCC, Takoma Radio will offer a hyper-local listening alternative.

The programming will be by, for, and about people of all ages and backgrounds, representing the diverse population in our listening area. Our station will be a source of live local information presented by live local people. We will share our stories and our music. We will frame and inform the present by including archival sounds and stories from Historic Takoma and other local audio collections. As a community, we are – among other things – urban, suburban, black, white, Latino, African, Asian, European, young, old, rich, poor, established, newly arrived.

Cove Point and Beyond

West of the Capitol Reflecting Pool, bordered by 3rd St
and between Pennsylvania Ave. NW and Maryland Ave. SW

STOP FRACKED GAS EXPORTS: Cove Point and Beyond is the first national rally to stop fracked gas exports!

“For far too long, President Obama has allowed the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to put the interests of the oil and gas industry above our health, safety and climate. FERC has rubber-stamped project after project to expand fracking here and export fracked gas overseas. On Sunday, July 13th, we say enough is enough. We’ll come together by the thousands in downtown Washington, D.C. to call for a change of course — at a critical time.”

“World leaders are coming to New York City for a UN summit on the climate crisis. With our future on the line and the whole world watching, we’ll take to the streets to demand a world safe from war and the connected ravages of climate change. The US military is the largest user of fossil fuels in the world and is modernizing and building new nuclear weapons. We march to slash the bloated military budget and to create a world with a sustainable and just economy that works for people, peace and the planet.
