“Congress is about to decide the fate of the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), an anti-democratic deal between 12 countries that was negotiated in complete secrecy by government officials and hundreds of corporate lobbyists. If it becomes law, the TPP would be the largest deal of its kind in history, and it poses a grave threat to good-paying jobs, internet freedom, the environment, access to medicine, food safety, and the future of freedom of expression.

[A]ll the leading presidential candidates are against it! But pro-TPP members of Congress are still plotting to rush the TPP to a vote this Fall. They want to do it quietly. That’s why we need to get loud.

Those seeking a post-election place to reflect, restore and rally will find it Nov. 19-20, 2016, when MUSE presents two concerts titled RISE! at the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center. Performing with MUSE will be Emma’s Revolution, the duo of award-winning, activist musicians Pat Humphries and Sandy O hailed as “smart, funny and informative – like Rachel Maddow and Jon Stewart with guitars.”

MUSE opens its 34th Season with a collection of current and traditional protest songs that promises the choir’s signature blend of inspiration, advocacy, humor and heart. From “Fired Up” by Holly Near, “Wage Peace” by Jennifer Stasack and “Mahk Jchi” (as performed by Native American trio Ulali) to “Which Side Are You On” (union worker protest), “Keep Your Eyes on the Prize” (as performed by Julia Easterlin) and “Still I Rise” by Dr. Rosephanye Powell, the concert will feature songs embraced by Black Lives Matter, Dakota Access Pipeline protesters, education and health reform, the anti-war movement and more.

“This December marks four years since the devastating Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in Newtown, Connecticut.

At UUFSD we mark the anniversary by participating in a national vigil, to gather and honor the 20 children and 6 adults killed that day and the thousands of others who have died by bullets since then.

Please join us in Founders Hall on Saturday, December 10th. We will gather at 4:30, the vigil will be held from 5:00 until 6:00 pm and is open to the public.

The vigil is an opportunity to hold space with one another and to heal. We will hear from gun violence prevention leaders, a gun violence victim from our own fellowship and be graced with the music of Emma’s Revolution.

Please also visit our Facebook event page for details about the vigil.”
